Time is about to start flying!

My in-home newborn sessions are low pressure, relaxed, and follow you and your baby’s lead. I strive to document the bond your family has by photographing your baby in context rather than with props in a studio.

My sessions are baby led and strive to show your family’s new bond.

The newborn stage will feel like an eternity when you’re in it, but when it’s over you’ll wonder where the time went! That’s at least how I felt when our son was born.

You won’t believe how much your little one will grow in the first year. They are only teeny tiny for the blink of an eye, and I’m here to document the special moments that only happen in the first days and weeks of life. The bond between a brand new person and their family members is something truly worth documenting.

Instead of using props and studio lighting, I truly believe in showing newborns in their “natural habitat.” Babies don’t sleep in baskets IRL, they sleep in the arms of their parents, they are fed by their grandparents, they are hugged and kissed by their siblings.

Newborns are notoriously unreliable models, so I strive to create a pressure-free session experience where parents can take breaks for feedings, changing diapers, or rocking their babies. A lot of the time, what we consider a “break” becomes part of the session, part of the story of your family.

Freeze this moment with a time capsule film.

In 2024, all newborn packages come with a time capsule film. Why? Because, after years of photographing newborns, I realized, video is an incredibly impactful and visceral way to remember this precious time. Photo simply can’t capture the moment in the same way. All 2024 newborn packages now include a free 1 minute film to share and keep forever.

FAQs

Do we have to shoot in our house? It’s a mess!

First off, that is 100% to be expected! Your house does not have to be clean to be a good space for photos. Often times, I can shoot around clutter, so don’t feel like your home has to be spotless to do a session.

If for some reason I can’t shoot at your home, there are studio spaces or Airbnb rentals that would also work for your session. Mention it when you inquire, and I can help you find a good spot.

What is the best time of day to shoot?

The best time to shoot is midday for indoor newborn sessions. This ensures that the sun will be hitting the roof of your house, and we’ll have pretty window light inside.

There are tricks we can use to make other times of day work, but midday is preferred for shooting inside.

What should we expect from our session?

Sessions are 90 minutes, but some babies require slightly more or less time depending on their mood that day. I will arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of your session and take a look around your home to find the best light in your space. I will take care of posing, so don’t worry! Most newborn poses are extremely natural and simple, so you won’t need to worry about looking or feeling tense or awkward for your photos.

If baby needs to eat, be rocked, or changed during your session, no problem. It happens at 100% of sessions!

How should we prepare for our session?

I suggest that all parents feed their newborns just before the start of their session. This usually makes them happy and sleepy which is perfect for taking photos. Typically, babies will also have a peaceful alert state after they wake up, so we’re usually able to get photos with baby’s eyes open and closed.

When Will i receive my images?

Images will be delivered to you via online gallery within 2 weeks of your shoot, sometimes sooner, but never later.

What should we wear?

I usually suggest finding a color palette that you like on Pinterest (I’ve pinned some ideas here for you) and having everyone in the family dress within that color palette. You don’t want everyone to be “matchy-matchy,” but you want there to be a good color theme.

For new moms, I suggest wearing something that makes you feel comfortable and beautiful. For babies, you may choose to do part of the session in a diaper or without clothes, and I usually suggest having a couple of outfits on hand. Having a backup is always a good idea with spit-up being likely!
